Summer Reading Program
The Macomb Public Library hosts a summer reading program for kids every year. Join us every summer for story times, crafts, and lots of other special events.
The Summer Reading Program is open for all ages. The 2024 Summer Reading Program theme is "Read, Renew, Repeat" and runs from June 1- July 31. Everyone can sign up at the Circulation desk or by calling us at 309-833-2714.
Kids track their reading by time. For every ten minutes of reading your child does, they can mark off one circle on the reading log. When all the circles are filled, they will have read a total of 500 minutes! Turn the completed log into the Macomb Public Library and receive the prizes shown below! Every child finisher receives:
- Book of their choice
- MPLD Logo Backpack
- Completion Certificate
- Free Frostee from Wendy's
- Brag Tag
- Their name entered into the drawing for a grand prize
Children also have the option of doing even more reading for the chance to win even more prizes. After you turn in your log, ask the Circulation desk for a BONUS log. Finish the bonus log and you can pick another brag tag and increase your chance to win a grand prize!
Adults track their reading by title. They will need to write down 3 titles to meet their goal. These titles can be a combination of books, e-books, audiobooks, or e-audiobooks. The theme this year is "Read, Renew, Repeat". Once the goal is met, adults can turn their log into the circulation desk and we will put their name into a drawing for a grand prize.
